Magic Mouth is not afraid to have “deep pockets.” Laying into a long groove to begin a song, the band leaves a lot of room for frontman Chanticleer Tru to work the stage, singing, strutting, and calling the audience to respond. Which they do. More than almost any other Portland band, Magic Mouth gets its audience to dance. The group’s cultivated a loyal following of fans, with its brash and funky style, and songs about being unafraid to be yourself.

Magic Mouth is Peter Condra, Brendan Scott, Ana Briseno, and Chanticleer Tru. In this Stagepass interview, they talk about that audience connection, being a so-called "queer rock band," and the lyrics in one of their most dramatic songs.
