Studio Sessions

Dirty MittensFebruary 5, 2009

Portland band Dirty Mittens brought their Motown and Doo-Wop styled indie pop to our studios recently. Hear a pair of songs from last year's Pinky Swear EP, and two new ones they performed.

Recorded at OPB 1-20-09.  Recording engineer: Steven Kray, with assistance from Bill Ward.

See the photo set from the session - taken by Jason Quigley.

Glass lips!

Wow, blown away, ditty mittens make me shake the proverbial booty and somehow enjoy the night with luscious forgiveness for the thoughts that it provokes.

Wow & well. My second pick of '08 and I'm still considering if the live impact of Chelsea's exceptional vocal comes across in this session. At Holocene earlier this year the mixing was.... In the OPB studio the loss was (as in all radio recordings, going back through many years even BBC) in dynamic range. However, the Pinky Swear CD is well-mixed and showcases the 'first-person' writing that reminds one of early Bjork (very early) and if the crowds warm to them on the tour it should happen. Bottom line: buy the CD (from OPB?) and enjoy it, to keep Dirty Mittens in the game.

I want them inside me. ALL OF THEM!

These guys remind me of when I saw them this summer and they knocked my block off. Nice SAXY groove on glass lips. Drums: affirmative/a direct hit.
