<p>Kate Maki is a singer/songwriter based in Sudbury, Ontario. She recorded her most recently released album (and an as-of-yet unreleased one) with <a href="http://www.howegelb.com/">Howe Gelb</a>, known for his band <a href="http://www.giantsand.com/">Giant Sand</a>.</p>
<p>She visited us recently, played songs from her album, <em>On High</em>, and talked about getting older, teaching part-time, and the joys of recording an album in five days in a backyard shed with no retakes.</p>
