Probably best known for his current gig as Decemberists drummer, John Moen's musical vita reads like a who's who of indie music over the past fifteen years or so. After co-founding the Dharma Bums in 1987, he went on to play with the likes of Elliott Smith, Heatmiser, and Stephen Malkmus & the Jicks, among others, in addition to fronting The Maroons in the early part of this decade. His new project, Perhapst, has been a while coming with roots stretching back to 2003. While it's a solo project for the most part, Moen got a little help along the way from former Dharma Bum cohort Eric Lovre, as well as Malkmus and fellow Jick Joanna Bolme. Perhpast's live line-up, as we had them for our session, is rounded out by Lovre, Chris Funk (Decemberists) and Jonathan Drews (Sunset Valley).
