DeVotchKa frontman Nick Urata joins us for stripped down versions of the band's unlikely musical stew, which sounds something like the soundtrack to a Morricone film about gypsies at the Mexican border. A Mad & Faithful Telling is the band's fourth full-length but first for the Anti- label, and (speaking of soundtracks) comes upon the heels of their well-received playing for the film Little Miss Sunshine. We talk with Urata about the role familial roots play in his songwriting, his ability to escape the 21st century, and the band's mixtape-inspired oeuvre.
