<p><a href="http://www.nickjaina.com">Nick Jaina</a>'s <em>Wool</em> is full of the kinds of songs that sound as if they could have been written in any one of the past several decades, as comfortable next to <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cole_Porter">Cole Porter</a> as they are <a href="http://www.myspace.com/tomwaits">Tom Waits</a> or (to a lesser degree) the <a href="http://www.blackheartprocession.com">Black Heart Procession</a>. Jaina threw a lovely, lovely wrench into his formula for the latest, resulting in an album of all piano-based songs that unfolds like an extended bedtime story, best taken in from start to finish. Jaina and his band joined us at Mississippi Studios for a performance and interview- we talked to him about some of the interesting circumstances surrounding the recording of the new album, including playing on a piano that once belonged to <a href="http://www.sweetadeline.net">Elliott Smith</a>, as well as his love/hate relationship with producing for others.</p>
