Wild Flag Makes Their Portland Debut

While a full-on Sleater-Kinney reunion may only be a matter of time, Wild Flag is as close to that as we're going to get for the time being-- but if this lo-fi footage from the band's show at the Doug Fir Saturday night is any indication, we'll be just fine making due with them.

In case you missed it, Wild Flag is the brand spanking new band from S-K's Carrie Brownstein and Janet Weiss, along with Mary Timony and Rebecca Cole. They announced their existence a while back, then seemingly minutes later announced they'd signed to Merge and had a record due out next year (not to mention established a Twitter handle).

What we have here are two songs (courtesy of YouTube user wessenbk) from Saturday's show-- the first is an intriguing original called "Future Crimes", while the second is a take on The Standell's "Dirty Water."

Good times! Wild Flag continues its first, fledgling steps up and down the California coast over the next week or so. Look for that debut record some time in 2011.
