We are huge fans of The Walkmen and Father John Misty, and their new records Heaven and Fear Fun, respectively. Saturday's show at the Roseland Theater did not disappoint. Father John Misty frontman/songwriter Josh Tillman showed both his great voice and the theatrical persona behind Father John Misty, dancing, falling to his knees and performing his songs to the hilt. He played a new song, and joked about performing songs from Fear Fun too many times this past year. From every after-show comment we overheard, listeners came away entertained and impressed. If the conversation about FJM hadn't already moved from "..he used to play drums in Fleet Foxes.." to ".. you've got to see this band," it has now.
Headliners The Walkmen launched into an extended set that was all business and little talk. The band played standout songs like "In the New Year" mixed with newer songs including "Heaven" and easy-to-sing-along "We Can't Be Beat."
Our photographer Inger Klekacz shared these photos of Father John Misty's performance.
