When does a debut record generate this much hype and attention? When the collective creators of the debut in question are also past creators of work by Sleater-Kinney, Quasi, Helium, The Minders, and Stephen Malkmus & the Jicks, among others (not to mention that whole Portlandia thing). Here comes Wild Flag, in case you missed it, the supergroup consisting of Carrie Brownstein, Janet Weiss, Mary Timony and Rebecca Cole, and they're bringing high leg kicks and RAWK! with them.

The self-titled debut arrives next week on Merge, but today brought us this Tom Scharpling-directed video for the first single, "Romance". It doesn't feel too far removed from an episode of Portlandia, what with all these hijinks taking place amongst the Portland many of us will recognize.

Wild Flag plays back-to-back nights at the Doug Fir in November to celebrate the release, but they'll be in our studio later this month. Keep your eyes open for details on how you can be part of the audience for that session coming soon!
