New Video: TV on the Radio's "Caffeinated Conciousness"

TV on the Radio has stepped into a more positive light, if you will, following this year's release of their album Nine Types of Light. Their new video for single "Caffeinated Consciousness" embodies their shift from a darker sound to a high energy wave of tropical cruise-themed psychedelia. Although energy is something the band has always possessed, they have funneled that fervor in a different direction; one full of erratic dance moves, magic carpets, increasingly bizzare face-painted guests, and liberal doses of roses.

As vocalist Tunde Adebimpe shouts over wandering guitar, "Would you believe my life is so bright? /A bed of roses and rollercoasters". There is no lack of such enthusiasm in "Caffeinated Consciousness", which is the debut clip in the hour-long video epic created by a variety of artists and filmmakers for the 10 track album. Check out our earlier coverage of the complete video.

TVOTR has had a busy schedule this summer with extensive tour dates, including headlining at the Pitchfork Music Festival last Sunday. The band will continue to spread the love (and roses?) to Portland with their upcoming Edgefield tour date Friday (tomorrow!) with local heroes Menomena (who performed an in-studio session for us last fall). Check out the complete TV on the Radio tour schedule here. If the performance is anything like the video, you can be sure to expect everything strange, endless energy and an eclectic parade of dance moves.
