The last we heard from Shara Worden, she was playing the part of the forest queen in The Decemberists' The Hazards of Love, a theatrical role that clearly suited her talents. Her just-released third album and first in three years as My Brightest Diamond, All Things Will Unwind, is full of the kind of polished quirk she's gained notoriety for, straddling indie pop, cabaret and orchestrated musical theater. It's an especially impressive feat given how busy she's been since her previous release, giving birth to her first child not to mention relocating to Detroit and renovating a dilapidated house.
This simple, artfully done new video from director Murat Eyuboglu and choreographer Jennifer McQuiston-Lott pairs Worden's music with an elegance to match via modern dance. Look for My Brightest Diamond at Mississippi Studios in Portland November 6th.
