Good stuff, indeed. You might be interested to know that most of that band is also in Foreign Born, who will featuring in-studio soon.

I agree, gunky. That song's growing on me - I need to check out more of their stuff.

I think Fool's Gold is playing SXSW this year, correct? I'll be interested to see if they get a bump from that. But now you have me more interested in Foreign Born too.
p.s. isn't Finn Riggins at SXSW too? Love to see them make a splash too.

All this talk of covers and then listening to M Ward's rendition of Let's dance makes me think that I am a fan of any cover that doesn't try to sound like the original. It may or may not work but for god's sake, don't try to make it sound like the original. I'm no big M Ward fan but kudos for the effort.

Not sure about Fool's Godl at SXSW, but Finn Riggins played all over the place.
It's always a case of whom from where sees them then writes or says some things about it, but everything I saw and read spoke pretty glowingly of their sets in Austin. They included an outdoor set in 35 degree weather with the drummer shirtless but with a scarf and Eric and Lisa wearing gloves, a set on a boat, and a set in a moving vehicle-- some kind of bus or something. Those accounts are from various sources.
Finn Riggins have been so impressive to watch in the way that they've organically grown their fanbase, playing every nook and cranny for what seems like it must be 300 days a year. I had them in-studio back in my Idaho days when they were first starting out, selling homemade CDRs with covers handmade from old floppy discs. They've come a long way, as the saying goes.

I agree with you Ranjit about covers. Make it your own, for pete's sake. I actually do like M. Ward when he's doing his own thing but I'm still not crazy about the combo with Zoey D. It's all a little too 50's redux for my taste.
Favorite covers of all times?
Gotta include Toots and the Maytalls, "Take Me Home Country Roads"

Haha. You guys are so opinionated. I just like music. :)
But seriously, interesting point about the covers, Ranjit. That seems to be a split amongst most- I've heard good and bad in each camp, of course, though I must admit I'm a total sucker for covers when an artist I love is covering a song or artist I love. My critical thinking departs.

Guilty as charged. But I'm just a pretender compared to IMOJP. Haven't seen much sign of him lately, opinionated one from on high that he is. Perhaps his alter-ego has been taking over.
I like to see some interpretation and experimentation with covers. Sometimes an artist covers their own songs and totally makes them different. Dylan of course, all the time.
