Video: Morrissey Doused!

At this rate, Morrissey may never make it back to Portland. His November 30th date at the Roseland Theater seemingly hangs ever more precariously in the balance as it's been a maligned few days for the one time pope of mope, who truth be told is not near as mopey as he used to be.

This past Saturday night in Liverpool, after opening with a rousing version of "This Charming Man,"  Morrissey was just a bit into "Black Cloud," when he was struck in the head with a plastic beverage container and the beverage contained therein. Initial reports had called it a "bottle of beer," but it's pretty clear from the video that it was a plastic cup. In any case, dampened, Morrissey took a couple of seconds to assess the situation and called it a night, saying "Goodbye," before leaving the stage. Imagine what a different world it would be if Ron Artest had reacted similarly....

If you'll recall, it was just two weeks ago that Morrissey collapsed on stage in Swindon after just one song. Oh by the way, his latest release, the 2-disc B-sides collection Swords, was released in the U.S. last week.
