Your Thanksgiving travel just got a whole lot better. Free downloads of the late, great Joe Strummer's London Calling radio program(me) he hosted for the BBC from 1998 to 2001 have surfaced online, offering a treasure trove of musical nuggets on what was a weekly glimpse into into the passionate musical mind of one of the great frontmen rock & roll has ever known.
Obscure Motown soul to "Hang On Sloopy", Toots & the Maytals to some thick groove from Zaire, they're a fascinating 30 minutes each, as if someone's rolling the dial of the coolest radio ever. He just needs to play more Clash.
For more context and generally engrossing viewing, I highly recommend Julian Temple's Strummer documentary, The Future Is Unwritten.
