The first time I heard Sallie Ford & the Sound Outside was in 2008 when the band opened for the Avett Brothers at a Crystal Ballroom show we sponsored. I'm not sure which got my attention first -- Ford's distinctive voice, which seemingly channels any number of great singers from American country and blues music -- or the urgency of the band itself, who were very clearly not taking their position on the bill as a cue to play a perfunctory set.
The band's been at OPB for a session twice before, and each we've been blown away. But we didn't have an audience there to enjoy the set with us. Well, this time we're getting it right (and hopefully you can be there too).
Sallie Ford & the Sound Outside's opbmusic session is Thursday, September 20th at 3pm. It's free. Get a ticket here. We're also proud to be presenting the band's headline show at the Doug Fir the next night-- Friday, September 21st with openers Old Light.
By the way, Partisan Records just released a deluxe version of Dirty Radio, the band's outstanding debut LP. Look for their second record coming out in 2013. We'll get a taste of the new songs Thursday. Again, here's where to get tickets.
